According to Deadline, the Golden Globe-nominated actor died in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting the upcoming film, Dangerous Waters.
It is unclear what is the cause of death.
Sources told TMZ there was nothing suspicious about the beloved star's death, and no foul play is suspected.
His fiancee was reported to be with him on set while filming his last movie.
Ray's daughter, Karsen Liotta, 23, had previously posted a snapshot of her father on Instagram.
She shared various images from his films.
Karsen wrote: "To the real G. Thanks for teaching me everything I know."

Ray's breakout role took place in director Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas back in 1990.
The actor portrayed mobster Henry Hill, who grew within the ranks of the Lucchese crime family.

He appeared alongside Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Lorraine Bracco.
